Course Update:
2/21/07: Word from Steven of the Peninsula Condo project, The Resort, demolition will probably not be for another 90 - 180 days. So we are at least good for a few months.
2/7/07: The final approval of the Peninsula is scheduled the middle of this month. Once approved demolition of the old structure should begin immediately and holes 1, 2, 6, 17, and 18 will be pulled. Not sure yet if we can squeeze 18 in on the remainder of the property or have to drop back to 9 holes. I would rather have a nice 9 hole with dual tees than a funky bastardized 18 holes that no one would enjoy.

The old Resort's new name looks like it will be called the Peninsula. It is a proposed 250 condo units in a ring of building with courtyards in between with restaurants, and health and medical facilities. They are using a 75 foot set back from the flood plain but are proposing constructing buildings on the bottom to inhibit views less which make no sense because the bottom is the flood plain. The residents across the now dry cove have a petition. The city is going to do a “potential impact” and a “traffic study” before approving the plans and doing a zoning change. If approved demolition of the old structure would begin immediately.
I talked with Steven Adams who is the manager of operations and he would like to keep the course on the low areas. His only concern would be his liability, which I told him we could post a disclaimer.
From Steve Adams: "Participants use the property at their own risk in exchange for a release of liability to the benefit of the property owner."
I will keep tabs with the city, Steve, and the development.

El Chile won open with a 45. John Hovey takes Adv. Masters with a 50.

Casa Lago Resort and Cabo Loco Have Closed !
It appears that the owners are going to demolish the existing complex and build condos. As always but more than ever the fate of the disc course is up in the air.
The only good point is 70% or more of the course in the flood plain.

Tony Ware 'Flying Solo' Memorial
 June 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, 2006

58 players attended a hot but fun charity tournament. Casa Lago Resort was full of disc golfers. Much appreciation and thanks from the Ware family and North Shore Disc Golf to all that attended and those that donated their time and money.

The 2006 Tony Ware “Flying Solo” Memorial was the 3rd annual event held at the Lago Vista Resort Disc Golf Course. This benefit tournament is for Tony's son Chance Ware. Tony died  from cancer in Feb. 2003 and this annual tournament is to raise money to send Chance to college. Money raised in 2006 came to $2555 with cash donations, merchandise, raffle tickets, drinks, breakfast tacos, t-shirts sales, and the CTP throw off the 3rd story deck of Cabo Loco. Thanks to big hearted generous disc golfers money will continue to be raised to send Chance to college. There was a 21 hole layout.
