Safe Ozone Levels!
Applies to all
Biozone Air Purification Units except
Commercial Ozone Generators
Ozone generators
have been used for over a hundred years for purification and sanitation
purposes. Ozone's properties as a bactericide, viricide, fungicide and
deodorizer are well accepted by the scientific community. Industry and
the general public have eagerly accepted ozonation as a water and air
purifier. However, it is also well established that exposure to high
levels of ozone can be harmful to health, and in particular can be a
respiratory irritant. This has led to a controversy as to the safety of
such ozone generators for general public use. There is no consensus as
to when ozone levels become harmful to humans, but based on available
research, regulatory agencies such as the FDA have set safe levels at .05 ppm
(parts per million) for continual exposure and OSHA has set 0.1 ppm as a
maximum for 8 hour exposures. Other agencies and organizations have
similar recommendations. Previously, all ozone generators used for air
purification had the potential to produce ozone levels over these
recommendations. To combat this problem, some manufacturers of portable
ozone air purifiers introduced models with ozone sensors that automatically
shut off the units when ozone levels rise above a prescribed limit.
While this is a step in the right direction, these devices are not fool proof,
nor do they seem to work well in all size environments. They also do nothing
to control the "blasting" of high concentrations of ozone when
operating. Biozone has developed a patented method to ensure safe ozone
levels called SafeZone™.
This unique technology will not allow the accumulation of ozone to exceed
recommended, safe levels. It is a fail-safe method. It does not
rely on electronic gadgetry or inexpensive sensors, but combines the science
of ultraviolet radiation, atom disassociation, quantum yield, and optimization
of unit geometry. In practical terms, this means as the ozone level in
an environment begins to rise, the machine will automatically reduce the
amount of ozone being produced, thereby keeping the accumulation at low
levels. There is no longer a reason to have concern about the potential
harmful effects of too much ozone. Biozone's air purifiers provide all
the wonderful, powerful benefits of ozone but with none of the worry
associated with previous ozone devices. (Biozone Purifiers
Compared to Others)
Although this
system is mostly fail-proof, there is a limit to how far you can go to ensure
safe levels of ozone. As an example, the model 3000,
which is designed for up to 3000 sq. ft, can be used in as small as a 300 sq.
ft. room on high output, and the ozone level will not rise above .05 ppm
(parts per million). However, if put it in a 120 sq. ft. room, the level would
rise and be maintained at about .1 ppm. This is still safe for 8 hours of
exposure, but in reality it is a very uncomfortable level. So the Biozone air
cleaners offer a great range of safety, but there are limits. (Sizing

Electronic Power Source
Biozone's air
cleaners use a new and exciting power source to drive the ultraviolet lamps
used in its units - and it really does make a difference.
Here's why.
Traditionally,
UV lamps have been powered by magnetic ballasts similar to those used to power
common fluorescent bulbs. The problem
with those ballasts was twofold: inconsistent electrical output and an
annoying hum. This contributed negatively to the performance and function of
ultraviolet light air cleaners.
A product of
years of research and development, Biozone's SafeVolttm
technology represents a dramatic improvement in the method of powering such
lamps. The solid state, 12VDC
power source features constant wattage circuitry for consistent and safe power
output.
This
consistent power output effectively eliminates the "blasts" of ozone
that often cause other units to produce ozone at unsafe levels. Plus,
12-volt technology costs just pennies a day to operate. It's safe for
operation around children and pets and will not overheat if left on for
extended periods - these units are designed for continuous, constant use. Plug
it in and forget about it!
We know that
there are hundreds of air cleaners on the market. We're
confident that if you know what to look for, you'll see that Biozone's
offers
you a truly affordable, effective product backed by the best warranty in the
industry. (3

Review The Facts
FACT:
Indoor air is polluted by toxins from a host of
sources: Tobacco
smoke, grease, mold, mildew, viruses, bacteria, lead, asbestos, carpeting,
paneling, vinyls, particle boards, plastics, insulation, waxes, paints, air
fresheners, fabric protectors, polishes, cleaning chemicals, pesticides,
aerosol sprays, etc.
FACT: Indoor
air quality problems produce a wide range of symptoms, which generally include
the following: headaches, fatigue, eye irritations, asthma attacks,
breathing problems, dizziness, memory loss, depression, irritability, skin
irritations, sinus infections, colds, flu, and viruses.
FACT: Air
filters, found in nearly every commercial building, including hospitals,
are only a partial solution. It is impossible to draw all the air in a
building through a filter. Filters also do not kills germs and viruses nor do
they remove the microscopic pollutants responsible for 90% of all respiratory
ailments. Also, even the best HEPA filter will only remove particles larger
than 0.03 microns.

Biozone Maintenance
There
is little or no maintenance required on Biozone units. If the model has a filter
screen on the back, (2000 models and larger), it will accumulate dust and debris
and can be removed and washed by hand with soap and water. Make sure the
filter is dry before reinstalling. If the unit is in a smoky or dusty areas it
is recommended that that the unit be opened and clean the UV lamp periodically
with a soft cloth and alcohol (make sure the unit is unplugged before opening
the case. Failure to clean the lamp will effect the production ability of the
lamp.
UV Lamp Replacement
After
approximately 1 year of continuous use, (9,000 hours, 2 - 3 years of intermittent
use) the UV lamp will lose its eradicating power and needs to be replaced.
