Ionization Method
The Surround Air XJ-3000C ionic air purifier uses "needlepoint" ionization, which is an ion-producing technology that electronically creates a high density of negative ions through the use of electrode pins. Needlepoint ionization creates a higher concentration of air-cleaning negative ions than any other ion-producing method.

Number of Needlepoints
The XJ-3000C ionic air purifier uses one high output needlepoint electrode pin. A fan is also included to effectively distribute the negative ions in high concentrations throughout the room.

Needlepoint Composition
Corrosion-resistant, stainless steel needlepoint is used in order to ensure durability and high ion output throughout the life of the XJ-3000C ionic air purifier.

Negative Ion Distribution
Even though other fan-less air ionizers (a.k.a. ionic air purifiers) produce a higher negative ion output than the XJ-3000C, its fan results in a higher negative ion output as you get a couple of feet or more away from the air purifier.

Ozone Output Settings
The Surround Air XJ-3000C UV, HEPA, ionic air purifier has Off, Low, Medium, and High settings to allow you to ensure the proper ozone output for each individual situation. Is Ozone Safe?

"Off" Setting
With the XJ-3000C ionic air purifier, the ozone production can be completely disabled, so virtually no ozone is released into the air.

"Low" Setting
On the low setting, the XJ-3000C produces ozone in intervals of 23 seconds "ON", and 5 minutes and 37 seconds "OFF". This is a high enough ozone level to effectively sanitize the HEPA/activated carbon filter, while releasing only negligible amounts of ozone into the air.

"Medium" Setting
On the medium setting, the XJ-3000C produces ozone in intervals of 2 minutes "ON" and 4 minutes "OFF". This is enough ozone to effectively sanitize the HEPA/activated carbon air filter, while also releasing enough ozone into the air to reduce odors.

"High" Setting
On the high setting, the ozone output of the XJ-3000C is continuous. This is the best setting for stronger odors and pollution levels.

How Negative Ions Purify the Air

Virtually all particles in the air have a positive charge, while negative ions have a negative charge. In which case, negative ions and particles magnetically attract to one another. When there is a high enough concentration of negative ions in the air, they will attract to floating particles in large numbers. This causes the particle to become too heavy to remain airborne. As a result, the particle will fall out of the air, preventing it from being inhaled into the respiratory tract where it can trigger breathing and health problems.

The ionized particle will then be collected by normal cleaning activities, such as vacuuming or dusting. If the particle happens to be kicked back up into the air again, it will be ionized, and quickly settled out of the air once again.

In nature, negative ions are generated by processes such as sunlight, lightening, waves from the ocean, and from waterfalls. "Concrete Jungles" minimize the natural production of negative ions by disrupting the delicate electrical balance between the atmosphere and the earth. Surround Air XJ-3000C ionic air purifiers recreate them with an electrode pin ("needlepoint") to electrically produce negative ions. This method produces a density that is many times higher than the negative ion level found at Niagara Falls, the highest natural producer of negative ions and one of the healthiest environments in the world.

Clean and Easy Air Filter Replacement

Replacing the HEPA/activated carbon is simply a matter of taking off the front cover, pulling out the old air filter, and inserting the new one. The front cover then just snaps right back on. Unlike other air filters, no tools are needed, and the air filters can be removed without getting your hands dirty.

Quiet and Powerful Fan

On the lowest setting, the fan of the XJ-3000C Hepa & ionic air purifier is barely audible. Even on the powerful high setting, it is not disturbing. The fan draws airborne particles in through the Hepa and activated carbon air filters of the XJ-3000C, which collect and remove these contaminates from the air. 

Then, the strong air flow created by the fan blows the negative ions throughout the room, resulting in a much higher ion concentration than most air ionizers from farther away from the purifier. When the ozone is turned on, the fan also ensures that it is well distributed, which helps to prevent the strong "bleach-like" smell ozone can cause.

Everything You Want in an Air Ionizer

• Powerful Collection Method for Ionized Particles. 
  Many air ionizers do not have any way to collect ionized particles. Although magnetized, metal plates are a more convenient collection method, the Hepa/activated carbon combination filter in the XJ-3000C will collect far more particles, especially with the fan drawing them into the filters. As a result, a far greater volume of particles are drawn into the unit (as compared to metal collection plates), and the collected particles are far less likely to become recirculated into the air.
